With the final week of World Of Warships Clan Battles Season 33 still rolling on, the map pool and initial ship restrictions for Season 34 have been released on the WOWS dev blog.
There will be much rejoicing in the competitive playerbase at the news that the new season will be purely Tier X ships in a 7v7 format, with no submarines or CVs, and no more than one battleship per team allowed.
There will be no spotting by controllable planes, as all hybrid CV battleships and cruisers are in the list of banned ships. So, off the menu will be Aki, Aki Gold, Amiral Lartigue, Hildebrand, Kommissar and Louisiana.
Also banned is the popular battleship C. Colombo, considered by many to be the only rational choice for the single BB slot when the SAP-firing monster is available for selection.
The Season 34 map pool is: Hotspot, Land Of Fire, Northern Waters, Sea Of Fortune, Sleeping Giant, The Faroe Islands and Warrior’s Path.
The ship bans as they stand have some glaring omissions from previous Tier X seasons, with no restrictions on the inclusion of Steel Wall ships like Petropavlosk, Moskva or Stalingrad, no cap on the number of Marseille or Napoli a team can bring, and even popular wolfpack destroyer Kleber unrestricted currently.
Also missing from the ship restrictions is the perpetually-banned Russian radar cruiser A. Nevsky, once a staple of smoke strats, but usually unavailable.
Time will tell whether more ship restrictions will be forthcoming before the start of the new season.
In brief, here are the initial ship restrictions, map pool, and season format:
- 7 v 7 using Tier X ships only
- No CVs
- No submarines
- The following ships cannot be used: Aki, Aki Gold, Amiral Lartigue, Hildebrand, Kommissar, Louisiana, C. Colombo
- Map pool: Hotspot, Land Of Fire, Northern Waters, Sea Of Fortune, Sleeping Giant, The Faroe Islands and Warrior’s Path
